A Heaven-sent Message of Love

I ask most of my friends, family, and colleagues to call me on my mobile phone – I’m almost certain to always have it with me (regardless of the time or my location).  The portable phone also has the advantage of allowing me to pace and think while talking.

One day last week, board member called.  As I paced to the window facing outside my office, I noticed that the tree in the front our building was filled with at least a dozen cardinals.

It was stunning to see all of these beautiful red birds clustered in a single spot.  I had never seen so many in one location.

It is sometimes said: When God sends a cardinal, it's a visitor from heaven. Cardinals appear when loved ones are near. When you keep seeing a certain type of bird, it is usually a heaven-sent messenger of love.”

As we continued our conversation, I turned to the window on the opposite side of my office.  Out that window, across the room and through the window of the enrichment room, I could see at least twelve residents engaged with Sr. JoAnn and the volunteers.  Some even wore red.

It was an interesting juxtaposition.

We can’t be sure about the folklore of the cardinals, but I can attest that at Angels’ Place, loved ones are near -- sometimes filling the inside windows.

On behalf of the men and women of Angel’s Place, thanks for all you so.  We hope that wherever you are, you feel their heaven-sent message of love.
